Laser skin resurfacing, commonly called a laser peel, removes the outer, damaged layer of skin to reveal a smoother, younger look. Laser resurfacing can reduce the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, uneven pigmentation and superficial scarring, usually on the face. A carbon dioxide (CO2) laser beam of precisely focused light vaporizes the surface skin and reveals the undamaged layer beneath. Procedure time varies depending on the size and condition of the area being treated.

Yakima Dermatology offers a number of treatment options to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. These include BOTOX® Cosmetic injections to smooth lines on the forehead and soft tissue fillers such as Restylane®, Radiesse™, and Juvéderm™ Injectable Gel to "plump up" the skin beneath wrinkles, lines and hollow areas in the face and augment the lips or cheeks for a younger, fuller appearance.

Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, the patient who is tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair may welcome laser and intense pulsed light hair removal with relief.
Lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light that are absorbed by dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface and converted to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years. Multiple treatments are required for complete hair removal -- the follicle must be “active” at the time of treatment, and not all follicles are active at the same time. Treatments are needle-free and do not require anesthesia. Most patients feel nothing more than a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band.
It is possible that some hair will grow back, though it is usually finer and lighter than what was originally removed. There may also be some redness and swelling following the procedure.

Latisse™ is the first and only FDA approved treatment for hypotrichosis of the eyelashes. Hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. Latisse is a breakthrough treatment to enhance eyelash prominence by increasing length, thickness, and darkness. Available only through prescription, Latisse is a once-daily treatment applied to the base of the upper eyelashes. Patients using Latisse can expect to experience longer, fuller, and darker eyelashes in as little as four weeks, with full results in sixteen weeks.
How Latisse Works
Latisse causes eyelashes to grow because of its active ingredient: bimatoprost. Although the precise mechanism of action is not known, research suggests that the growth of eyelashes occurs by increasing the percent of hairs in the anagen (or growth) phase. Eyelashes can grow longer, thicker, and darker because bimatoprost can also increase the duration of this growth phase.
Latisse does not replace mascara, as it creates lashes that are actually longer and darker, instead of just appearing to be so. Mascara can be used as a nice complement to Latisse in order to further enhance your lashes and create a fuller, more attractive look.

Cool Lipo (laser-assisted lipolysis) is a new, minimally invasive technology that liquefies fat for easy removal. It is a laser-based procedure that breaks up and removes fat cells in areas such as under the chin, neck, and jowls or areas with loose skin such as the arms. In addition, the unique wavelength of the CoolLipo laser system directly contracts collagen and tightens the skin, an effect not seen with standard liposuction.
Benefits
- Gentle fat disruption and removal technique for small areas
- Treats areas that are difficult for conventional liposuction
- Less invasive than a neck or face lift
- May be performed under local anesthesia only
- Short in office procedure
- Safe with minimal bruising and side effects
- Minimal downtime post-procedure
